What does a Gardener do?

As a gardener you work in close contact with nature and the environment and deal with the production and care of plants. You work the soil, cultivate beds, grow plants, water and fertilise them. You are also responsible for harvesting and further production of the plants. This includes, for example, advising customers and selling your plants and harvest. You sell the products to wholesale markets, retailers or directly to consumers.

What is important?

  • Craftsmanship (e.g. using tools and machines)
  • Forethought and care (e.g. when using crop protection and fertilisers)
  • Stamina and physical ability
  • Knowledge of nature and the environment
